Yes, camping is allowed in Rishikesh at approved sites. Beach camping on the Ganga between Rishikesh and Kaudiyala is restricted by National Green Tribunal (NGT) rules to approved sites set back at least 100 metres from the river, and unauthorised beach camps have been removed in past crackdowns. Forest and village camps away from the riverbank, like Camp White World Expeditions and Wondrous Camp, are a simple way to camp without that uncertainty.

Our camping packages include tent or cottage accommodation, buffet meals (vegetarian breakfast and lunch, veg and non-veg dinner), morning and evening tea, a bonfire with DJ music until 10 PM, games like volleyball, cricket and badminton, and a short trek to the Hidden Waterfall. Some packages also include a village walk to Thaat and Valyakhaan, bird watching and transport from Rishikesh. Alcohol and personal expenses are not included.

Camp White World Expeditions is about 21 km north of Rishikesh at Goolar, on Pawki Devi Road below Thaat Village. The last 700 metres is a 15-minute walk from the road to the camp (see the location on Google Maps). Wondrous Camp is about 16 km from Rishikesh in Kathya Badal village, Shivpuri. Some packages include transport from Rishikesh; otherwise we can arrange a vehicle for ₹1,500 one way.

Yes. A camp manager briefs every group on arrival about the camp rules, and our camps sit in a quiet forest valley or village rather than on a crowded riverbank. The stays are designed for families, couples and friend groups, with double and triple sharing tents and cottages. Families with small children may prefer the cottages at Wondrous Camp.

October to April is the best time for camping in Rishikesh. October and November bring clear skies and pleasant days, December to February is cold at night and perfect for bonfires, and March and April are warm and green. May and June are hot by day but cooler at a forest camp. Our camps are open from September to June and close for the monsoon (July to mid-September).

What should I carry for camping in Rishikesh?

Carry comfortable walking shoes for the 700-metre trail, a torch, a refillable water bottle, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, any personal medicines and a government photo ID. Is there a swimming pool at the camp?

Yes. Wondrous Camp in Kathya Badal, Shivpuri, where our deluxe and AC cottages are, has a swimming pool. If a pool matters to you, book one of the Wondrous Camp cottage packages.

Can children stay at the camp?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The minimum age is 10 at the Goolar forest camp and 6 for the deluxe cottages at Wondrous Camp. Young children sharing a parent's bed stay free, and kids aged 6 to 12 pay 50% of the package. Rafting is for ages 14 to 60, so children under 12 cannot raft.

Can we bring alcohol to the camp?

Yes. Alcohol is not included in our packages, but guests may bring their own drinks to the camp. Please drink responsibly, keep glass away from the bonfire area, and respect other guests. DJ music ends at 10 PM.

Are pets allowed at the camp?

Yes, pets are allowed at our camps. Please tell us when you book, keep your pet on a leash around other guests, and remember the camp is in a forest, so carry tick protection and your pet’s food and bowl.

The Goolar camp has 25 Alpine deluxe tents with double or triple sharing, clean shared washrooms (not attached to the tents), a dining area, a bonfire ground and charging points with power backup. Jio and Airtel work, but the signal is patchy in the valley, so download what you need before you arrive.
