2 DAYS KAYAK COURSE ON HOLY GANGA

Day 1:.

9:00 to 1300 hrs: pick up from Hotel 8:30 and Departure to kayak clinic sport( NIM) - A detailed safety briefing follows with introduction to kayaking and equipment, and we will teach you safety and rescue techniques, as well as fitting you into your kayak Capsize drill and T-rescues.

•  Swim test before starting Capsizing drills. Instructors demonstrate swimming

•  Practice basic flat water paddling skills - forwards, backwards, turning and sweep strokes. Introduce edge control and support stroke & practice ferry glides in an eddy.
•  Practice edging in slow moving water.

1300 to 1400 hrs: Lunch break on the River
1400 to 1700: Instruct how to handle gentle currents and maneuver on the river & practice ferry glides. 01 hr Session on river hydrology and whitewater reading. 
•  Hydrology session on the bank out of the kayak & point out features on the rapid. and paddle down from NIM to Ram Jhulla. Pack up at Ram Jhulla & head back to hotel.

Day 2:

900 to 1300 hrs: pick up from Hotel 8:30am and Departure to kayak clinic sport( NIM) Work on ‘Eskimo roll’, In between instruct whitewater swimming, towing kayak, equipment and towing swimmers.

1300 to 1400 hrs: Lunch break on the River

1400 to 1700: Review and practice ‘Eskimo roll’. Introduction on river rescue techniques - use of a throw bag/rescue bag. and paddle down from NIM to Ram Jhulla. Pack up at Ram Jhulla & head back to hotel.

ACCESS FROM NEW DELHI
Leave Delhi by 4:00 a.m. At this hour, driving time is approx. 5 hrs. with a short break. Time on road increases with delays beyond a 5:00 am departure.

1. Board the Shatabdi Express early morning 7 am (depending on train winter/summer timings) till Hardwar (11:40 am). Taxi onwards to arrive at Hotel for lunch. Alternatively board the Jan Shatabdi at 3:30 pm and reach Hardwar at 7:25pm. Taxi onwards.

Kayak Rolling : Rolling/Support :

Course Limited To 6 Spaces.

Rolling A Kayak Adds A Huge Amount Of Confidence To Your Kayaking. The Kayak Roll Is One Of The More Tricky Maneuvers To Master, And May Take Regular Training Sessions. Rolling Will Become A Very Important Part To Advancing Your Kayaking Skills. We Understand Paddlers Fears Or Concerns And Have A Patient Style To Improving Your Skills. This Course Is Great For Improving Your Confidence And Support Strokes Highlighting A Stable Paddling Position. The Day Will Begin At 9:30am Talking Over A Coffee.

AM: BLADE SUPPORT

A Morning Session Out On The River, Helping You To Understand And Have Confidence In Your Support Strokes. Known As The Low And High Brace We Will Break These Two Techniques Down So You Can Really Believe In Them. You Will Be Shown Practice Routines and application Of The Strokes. You Will Leave With A Good Understanding And A New Love Of Blade Support. The Morning Session Will Warm You Up For The Afternoon Rolling In The Pool. Also Covering A Stable Positive Paddling Position!. Learn How To Use Your Blade And Body Effectively For Stable Kayaking.

PM: on the river TIME 2hrs

It’s Time To Break The Roll Down Into 3 Steps. Beginning With Relaxing Upside Down The Aim Of The Session Is For You To Understand More About The Rolling Technique And That You Can Fault Find Your Own Roll To Help You Progress. The Rolling Technique Can Be A Big Leap In Your Learning, It Is Important You Understand The Actions Required For A Good Roll, With The Instructor Right Next To The Boat You Can Feel The Actions Required.

Kayak

Many of us may have seen kayaking, either on a river trip, or on the television - its looks exciting, a big rapid, a colorful kayaker weaving a path through the waves and all the randomness of white water. You may have wondered, if you could be that person in the kayak, if you could look as graceful and have that much fun, being so much closer to the water than being on a raft. 

At the White World Expeditions instructors have the experience and skill to teach beginners the basics of whitewater and the finer details of paddling skills and new techniques. We have a wide range of kayaks to suit your skill level and body type.

Kayak classes are scheduled up to 4 days. We recommend that you spend at least four days in our school as a first step. The reason for this is that you will have more time to learn and practice the basic skills, and then apply them to moving water. Learning to kayak is challenging, but the rewards are well worth the effort. Kayaking will help you get some exercise, along with running some fun rapids, and of course keep you in touch with the great outdoors.

The Introduction Course
This Course Will Give You A Taster Day Kayaking. All Equipment Is Provided To Make The Day A Comfortable One. River Strokes Will Help You To Learn The Fundamental Paddling Skills Required To Safely Control A Kayak. The Day Will Be Taken At A Pace To Suit A First Time Kayaker With Regular Breaks And Plenty Of Chat. You Will Benefit From Small Group Sizes, With A Maximum Of 6 Paddlers On The Course In Total.

Itinerary

AM – 800 Meeting at you hotel and drive to our office And A Chat About The Day Ahead. We Will Then Kit You Out With A Safety Gear And Make Sure You Are Comfortable In The Boat.

Once You Have Had A Safety Brief We Will Load The Car And Travel To The River.
As Part Of A Small Group You Will Be Introduced To Paddling The Kayak In A Straight Line. Requiring Some Practice Small Tips And Advice Will Help You Get Control. The First Control Strokes Will Be Demonstrated And Taught.

Lunch : 1200 to 1300

The Midday Break Offers A Time To Relax And Watch The River Float By river Have lunch break.

PM - 1.30pm
The Afternoon Session We Involve A Recap Of Control Strokes And Assist You With Any Aspect Of The Forward Paddling Technique And Improve Your Confidence In A Kayak. At The End Of The Day If You Feel Comfortable A Cap Size Drill Can Be Taught And Practiced To Really Give You The Confidence To Enjoy Kayaking!

Suitable Footwear, Wetsuit Booties Are Great.
