TREK RIPCHAR VALLEY
This short trek, part of the popular Lamayuru Chilling trek, follows good trails between villages, although high up on our route we will also find zig-zag paths on scree. This is quite a high trek and trekking at altitudes above 4000 metres / 13,100 feet makes greater demands on the body than walking at low elevations, and is of itself challenging even for fit hikers. You will need to ensure you are physically prepared for the trek and you should be comfortable walking a long 7 to 8 hours day, along with a short day which involves steep descent. The trip is given the moderate grade on account of the generally quite high altitude and the high pass crossing of Konzke La at close to 5000m.
